Wi-Fi Hotspot installation

Due to positive feedback from customers, additional projects were integrated into the workflow. One of these projects was for British Telecom, and involved the installation of Wi-Fi hotspots for Westminster council. This type of work involved the installation of Wi-Fi nodes and hubs. The work was mainly carried out during the early hours of the morning, and comprised of fixing the units to existing street lighting furniture, fitting several antennae to the unit, cabling down through the street lighting structure and connecting the pre-terminated cables to a dedicated, newly installed power supply unit. Additional works involved pulling a pre-terminated fibre from an existing BT footway chamber into the mast hatch and connecting to a media convertor.

In addition to this further projects emerged, one of which was on behalf of Whitbread and involved the installation of a wireless data and telephone link between their Premier Inn hotels and restaurants, whilst another project involved the installation of wireless access points (AP) inside of Specsavers retail outlets, as part of a closed network for their new iPad point of sale (POS) system.
